Aug 2, 2024 · This fall, Iván Argote’s monumental pigeon sculpture, titled Dinosaur, will be installed on the High Line at Tenth Avenue and 30th Street. The cast-aluminum piece is currently being finalized in Mexico, and aims to provoke thought about the “world’s oldest domesticated bird” by elevating it to a far larger-than-life scale.

For the fourth High Line Plinth commission, Iván Argote presents Dinosaur (2024), a colossal, hyper-realistic sculpture of a pigeon cast in aluminum. Dinosaur was first submitted as a proposal for the High Line Plinth in 2020, among 80 proposals that included the third High Line Plinth commission, Pamela Rosenkranz’s Old Tree (2023).
