Removing duplicate photos from Microsoft Photos
Open Microsoft Photos app. Click on the Ellipsis on the top right corner of the window and click on Settings. Under Sources, remove the folder that has duplicate photos by clicking on X. To remove the duplicate photos from the computer, please navigate to the location where the photos are saved and then you can delete the photos are duplicate.

If you make a photo a favorite and that photo exists in a folder that is not indexed in the Photo app > Settings > Sources then you need to "Add a folder" and browse to the folder with your photos in. Then, under Albums you will see a new folder called Favourites (or Favorites).
