Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is expanding its plant in Mexico to manufacture Ram 1500 trucks. Two new buildings have already been constructed in the Aztec country, while production in Italy is set to halt.

Such a step by the automaker would threaten its already-frayed relationship with the UAW, which has criticized moves to cut U.S. jobs.

Stellantis is recalling a little over 129,300 Ram 1500 pickup trucks over an issue with the turn signals that may prevent them from turning off.

Stellantis has been building additional factory space next to its existing plant in Saltillo, Mexico, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.
