Teachers on the North Shore of Massachusetts are back on the picket line, and students are out of school for another day. Friday officially marks one week of striking in two school districts, and there’s no deal in sight.

School is canceled for Tuesday in Gloucester, Beverly, and Marblehead as striking teachers and school committees fail to reach an agreement.

Talks in each community are expected to resume Monday morning, while hundreds of union members from each community are expected to rally together in Gloucester later in the day.

About 10,000 North Shore students aren’t in school as a result of teacher strikes in Beverly, Gloucester and now Marblehead.

Teachers in Beverly, Gloucester, and Marblehead continue their strike, leading to class cancellations and ongoing negotiations with the school committees.

Teacher strikes in Gloucester and Beverly reached their fourth day of missed school Thursday, while Marblehead teachers were out for a third school day, after days of bargaining and mediation so far have failed to produce a deal in any of the three districts.

Marblehead Public Schools will reinstate athletics and extracurriculars as teacher strikes drag on, the district reported Thursday, allowing this weekend's high school football playoff game to continue.

The striking teachers in Marblehead are set to face $50,000 fines after an Essex Superior Court judge’s ruling.

While the three strikes are separate, some of the sticking points have been the same — as they have in a recent wave of other teacher strikes across the state.
