From Saga creatures to the wonderful weirdness of Chocobos appearing in one of the best card games, there’s a lot for both Magic players and FF fans to be excited about in the upcoming MTG Final Fantasy Universes Beyond set.

Set to launch this June, Magic’s Final Fantasy crossover will be a fully draftable, Standard-legal set accompanied by the four preconstructed decks in the gallery above. Each of those includes 100 cards made up of both reprints of existing cards with new Final Fantasy art and brand new cards designed with Magic’s most popular format,

The four Commander Decks are Revival Trance (Red/White/Black) based on Final Fantasy 6, Limit Break (Red/Green/White) based on Final Fantasy 7, Counter Blitz (Green/White/Blue) based on Final Fantasy 10, and Scions of Spellcraft (White, Blue, Black), based on Final Fantasy 14.

Wizards of the Coast has announced official Final Fantasy Commander decks, marking an official crossover with Magic: The Gathering and the RPG series.

As the first of the Universes Beyond releases of 2025, we’re set to see the MTG Final Fantasy set release in June. Yet, with four months to go before FF crosses over with one of the best card games, we’ve already been given a sneak peak of the Commander decks that will accompany the set.

The $19.99 Starter Kit for the Final Fantasy crossover for Magic: The Gathering is available to pre-order from either Amazon or Best Buy. The Starter Kit includes a pair of ready-to-play 60-card decks with deck boxes in addition to four double-sided token cards and rulebooks to teach you how to play the game.

Your goal with the deck and any subsequent upgrades is to create energy on pace, store it up whilst establishing a board presence, and swing all out. You should be getting enough card draw and power from all those ETB triggers that your opponents can't keep up, letting you dominate one of the best card games.

The Gathering already gone on Amazon. eBay sales of pre-orders are breaking the Terms of Service, due to the set not coming out till June. Fans advised to wait for wider availability of sets, as Wizards of the Coast will produce plenty.
