Chevrolet is bringing a first for the Daytona 500 with its Blazer EV SS as the first electric vehicle to lead the famous NASCAR race to the green flag.

The Chevrolet brand of General Motors Co. in Detroit unveiled its Blazer EV.R NASCAR prototype in the days leading up to Sunday’s Daytona 500, won by Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron for the second consecutive year.

Chevrolet reportedly is discontinuing the ICE model while featuring the EV version. The Blazer SS EV will pace the Daytona 500.

Like the Ford, and like NASCAR's unbranded prototype, the three-motor setup makes the Blazer EV.R all-wheel drive. Those motors draw from a 78-kWh liquid-cooled battery, which is stored inside a modified Next Gen chassis. The car's suspension is also taken from that car, another common feature with the other two demonstrators.

Chevrolet Blazer EV has good range, stunning looks, state-of-the-art infotainment, and preventative driver assists, all for a reasonable price.
