Defensive end Marcus Davenport and linebacker Derrick Barnes were both placed on IR Tuesday after suffering significant injuries in Detroit’s Week 3 triumph over the Arizona Cardinals. Davenport’s injury was reported as torn triceps, while Barnes suffered a knee injury.

The Lions signed WR Tim Patrick from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and still have one open roster spot.

The Lions’ injury situation just keeps getting worse, with linebacker Derrick Barnes expected to be placed on injured reserve after sustaining a knee injury in Detroit’s Week 3 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Detroit Lions defensive back Brian Branch suffered a neck injury on a helmet-to-helmet hit and was being evaluated for a brain injury after the game.

Davenport is out for the rest of the 2024 season with an elbow injury. To fill one spot, the Lions have signed receiver Tim Patrick to the 53-man roster off of the club’s practice squad. The longtime Broncos wideout has caught three passes for 20 yards so far in 2024.

It’s a big loss for the defense, which was relying on Barnes to play a variety of roles, from edge rusher to run-stuffer to occasional cover man in the slot.
