Israel carried out it first strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen since the Israel-Iran ceasefire, attacking ports and a power plant around midnight local time Sunday night into Monday morning.

Israeli Defense Forces struck three ports in Yemen, alleging that the ports are used by the Houthi forces to "transfer weapons from the Iranian regime."

The May 6 cease-fire between the United States and the Houthi militia in Yemen has had a consolidating effect on the balance of power inside the war-torn state and hardened the status quo of the country’s civil war.

The Greek-owned merchant ship MV MAGIC SEAS came under a sophisticated attack by small boats and drones off Yemen on Sunday and is sinking.

The Houthis then responded with an apparent missile attack on Israel. The Israeli military said that it attempted to intercept the two missiles launched by the Houthis, but they appeared to make impact, though no injuries have been reported. Sirens sounded in the West Bank and along the Dead Sea.
