The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are hot on the tail of Roki Sasaki, the most exciting international prospect on the market. But only one of them can snag him.

The Padres have walked away from the last two international signing periods with arguably the best prospects on the board. Expect crickets when this year’s window opens Wednesday — at least until Japanese superstar Roki Sasaki makes his decision.

The Dodgers, Padres and Blue Jays are reportedly the three finalists for the hard-throwing Japanese pitcher, who can sign anytime between Wednesday and Jan. 23.
