Which brings me back to the Pixel Fold 2. Here’s what we know for sure: Every Google product leaks many, many months ahead of its launch. This is a fact at this point.

The release date for the Google Pixel Fold 2 has yet to be confirmed, but the phone could be announced at Google I/O 2024, which is believed to be held in early May as with previous years.

The Google Pixel Fold 2 could come with a square-shaped camera module instead of a horizontal camera bar, as shown in leaked renders shared with Smartprix. The Pixel Fold 2 could be much thinner, too.

One interesting aspect of these rumours is that if the Pixel Fold 2 gets the Tensor G4, it will do so before the Pixel 9 Pro, which is usually the device for Google to debut new hardware and design.

So much, in fact, that the Fold 2 immediately made the first one look like a cheap toy. Google's own second attempt at a foldable, the awkwardly named Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, has made a similar leap.

The above teaser, posted to the company's Made by Google YouTube channel, focuses on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, showing off the new design and camera layout before confirming the Aug.13 release date.

Google launched the first Pixel Fold at its annual I/O developers' conference, and we expect it and many other Android goodies at this year's event, scheduled to start May 14.
