The European Union has told Apple to stop geo-locking, where apps and services vary in different countries — entirely ignoring decades of laws and practices by other industries that have nothing to do with the App Store.

Apple is, seemingly, generally loathe to cooperate with authorities if it can avoid doing so – see the company’s long history with the FBI – but the EU has managed to twist

The Commission has requested Apple to respond with proposed commitments to resolve these issues. The 2018 geo-blocking regulation aims to improve access to goods and services across the European Union and the European Economic Area.
