On Monday, Aug. 18, data from a Spirit Airlines flight showed that the aircraft flew through Hurricane Erin as it was a Category 4 storm off the coast of the Caribbean.

A Spirit Airlines plane appears to have flown through Hurricane Erin this week when the hurricane was a Category 4 storm with winds well over 100 mph, according to a flight path shared on social media. Spirit Airlines told Newsweek in a statement that the flight operated normally and no injuries were reported.

According to flight tracking site Flightradar24, Flight NK2298, en route from Philadelphia to San Juan, Puerto Rico, took a course that seemingly sliced through the heart of the hurricane.
