Two Padres are up for Baseball Writers Association of America awards: Jackson Merrill on Monday was named a finalist for NL Rookie of the Year, as was Mike Shildt for NL Manager of the Year. The rookie awards will be announced Nov. 18 and the manager awards will be announced Nov. 19. MLB Network will broadcast announcements both days at 3 p.m.

The Padres had a number of promising developments in 2024. Two new contributors to the club’s success were recognized for their efforts on Monday. When finalists for BBWAA awards came out Jackson Merrill and Mike Shildt made the list.

In the National League, Pirates rookie Paul Skenes is a finalist for Rookie of the Year with Padres’ outfielder Jackson Merrill and Brewers’ outfielder Jackson Chourio, and a finalist for Cy Young with Braves’ lefty Chris Sale and Phillies’ righty Zack Wheeler.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio and manager Pat Murphy are among the finalists for two of the annual Baseball Writers Association of America Awards.

Chourio is one of three finalists for NL Rookie of the Year, while Murphy is the favorite in the NL Manager of the Year race
