A new warning has been issued for four northern counties ahead of another Status Orange warning coming into effect on Wednesday evening

A fresh yellow warning for snow and ice has been issued for parts of Northern Ireland from Wednesday afternoon until Thursday morning. The warning is in place for counties Antrim, Londonderry, Fermanagh, and Tyrone from 16:00 GMT until 11:00 GMT.

Northern Ireland is facing the deepest freeze of the winter tonight - with temperatures under -8C forecast. A yellow warning for ice is in place for until 10am tomorrow, Friday, applying to counties Antrim, Down, Londonderry and Tyrone.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Please take extra care on the roads this morning especially on those which may not have been gritted. Clear your windscreen of ice before you set off and remember to slow down and increase the distance between you and the vehicle ahead."
