The Devils handled the New York Rangers 5-0 at home behind two goals and an assist from center Jack Hughes. It marked New Jersey's second win over their cross-river rivals this season, the first of which came earlier this month in a 5-1 game. After this particular victory, the Devils went on the offensive on social media.

Jacob Markstrom made 12 saves for his second straight shutout and third of the season to extend his point streak to nine games (8-0-1). It was the Devils' first regular-season shutout against the Rangers since Cory Schneider made 22 saves in a 4-0 victory Oct. 19, 2013.

As the New York Rangers' season continues to unravel, the New Jersey Devils had a grand old time poking fun at their Hudson River rivals on Monday.

On Dec. 23 the New Jersey Devils hosted the New York Rangers for their last game before the holiday break. While the Rangers were on a losing streak, the Devils were able to extend their streak, defeating the Rangers 5-0 for their second shutout victory in a row.
