Whatever happens next, the God of War series has plenty of material to mine from. First debuting on the PlayStation 2 in 2005, Kratos began his rampage through the pantheon of Greek gods, with his story eventually culminating in a brutal climb up Mount Olympus in 2010's God of War 3 – if you don't count the various spin-offs and prequels.

Amazon is reshuffling the deck with its God of War series. After the success of Fallout, it wants its next Prime Video gaming adaptation to live up to those lofty expectations — and it’s apparently willing to start fresh to do so.

The “God of War” TV series adaptation at Amazon is starting from scratch. Variety has confirmed that series showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have departed the project.
