Officials in California announced this week that four individuals were arrested in an insurance scheme that allegedly included one person wearing a bear costume in a staged attack. California is no stranger to bears breaking into vehicles, but when footage surfaced of bears slipping into luxury cars, it alerted insurers that something was amiss.

Four LA residents allegedly defrauded multiple insurance companies of over $141,000. A wildlife expert who reviewed footage of the incidents said that the culprit was "clearly a human in a bear suit."

The investigation, rightfully dubbed "Operation Bear Claw," found that the four suspects had staged bear attacks inside of their vehicles in a San Bernardino County mountain community in order to receive payouts totaling more than $140,
