Douglas County election officials reminded the public on Tuesday that there’s no statewide elections this year.

Among a recent rash of bad ideas comes two recycled clangers for Nebraskans: Hand counting paper ballots for all state elections and adopting a winner-take-all format to determine the state’s presidential electors.

Another candidate for state legislature has entered their name into the race, this time for a seat representing the southern and western portions of Sarpy County.

Business owner and political action committee co-founder Denise Powell once again led fundraising in the crowded Democratic field for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District.
