The Cubs acquired right-handed relief pitcher Ryan Pressly in a trade with the Houston Astros on Sunday, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports. Pressly has waived his no-trade clause to approve the deal, and the Astros have agreed to pay a portion of Pressly’s $14M salary for 2025.

After several days of waiting, the Chicago Cubs finally found some much-needed bullpen help on Sunday evening, convincing Houston Astros righty Ryan Pressly to waive his no-trade clause and agree to a deal sending him to the North Side in exchange for Minor League righty Juan Bello.

Pressly is slated to make $14 million in the last year of his contract, and Houston could use the money it saves in the trade to upgrade its outfield. It also could make a renewed push for a reunion with free agent third baseman Alex Bregman.
