The Village People and President-elect Donald Trump have apparently buried the hatchet. On Monday, lead singer Victor Willis — the iconic disco-music group’s San Diego-based founder and leader — announced Village People had accepted an invitation to perform at multiple Trump inauguration events next week,

Famed country singer Carrie Underwood and disco group the Village People said they accepted invitations to perform at events connected to Donald Trump's inauguration, the former singing "America the Beautiful" at the event proper.

"Y.M.C.A." is known to be a favorite of Donald Trump's, and its singer plans to be on hand for the president-elect's swearing in.

NBC News reported that of the events the Village People will perform at is an inaugural eve ball hosted by Turning Point USA, a conservative activist group. Confirmed guests include Vice President-elect JD Vance, Donald Trump Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, Trump’s pick for director of national intelligence.

The group has previously clashed with the US president-elect over his use of their hit song YMCA, a tune long synonymous with gay pride.

Village People had previously sent cease-and-desist orders to Donald Trump in a failed attempt to get him to stop playing “Y.M.C.A.” without the group’s permission.
