A decade-old picture of a Philippine city flattened by Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms ever recorded, has resurfaced in social media posts that falsely portrayed it as showing the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam.

The death toll from Typhoon Yagi and its subsequent rain that triggered floods and landslides has climbed to 87 as 70 others remain missing and hundreds were injured, state media said.

The storm swept across southeast Asia this week, with heavy rain triggering landslides and flash floods that have left hundreds of people dead.
