TDOT wants to assure motorists that it’s ready to clear roadways of ice and snow. Crews across the Midstate are readied with snowplows and brine trucks.

As another winter weather system approaches the region, News Channel 11 spoke with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) to obtain insight on how its crews prepare roadways for snow and ice.

If and when snow starts to fall in the Midstate, Zeigler said TDOT trucks will switch to salting roads. TDOT workers will also monitor the temperature of the roads using their “Smartway” cameras to keep up with road treatment. To avoid crashes, TDOT workers are making other adjustments to their winter weather plans.
