There was a real party atmosphere at Tucson’s El Casino Ballroom as the Adelita Grijalva campaign and its backers celebrated winning the nomination for the Democrats for Congressional District 7.
Adelita Grijalva is a veteran of both Tucson’s school board and the Pima County Board of Supervisors. She’s also the 54-year-old daughter of the progressive icon Rep. Raúl Grijalva, whose death in March kicked off the special election for his U.S. House seat in Arizona that she is now favored to win.
Arizona voters Tuesday will pick the likely successor to Rep. Raúl Grijalva with his daughter well positioned for victory in the Democratic primary.
