Marcus Pettersson - who has been out since Dec. 14 with a lower-body injury - skated with the team in a non-contact capacity. He worked on the extra defensive pairing with Nathan Clurman, who was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton again after Owen Pickering went on IR following the Penguins' loss against the New Jersey Devils.

The Vancouver Canucks are still waiting for a few things on their Christmas list, as forward Elias Pettersson and defenceman Quinn Hughes was absent from Friday’s practice.

Pettersson responded by breaking the game wide-open for the Canucks late in the second period. Kiefer Sherwood ’s 2-1 goal was a key turning point because the club had only mustered 13 shots entering the final TV timeout of the second period, but it was Pettersson who made sure to put the game out of reach.

Whatever Elias Pettersson hurt during Monday’s 4-3 Vancouver Canucks win over the San Jose Sharks and whatever Quinn Hughes hurt during Saturday’s 5-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators are apparently lingering.
