Aoife, from Shannon, Co Clare, died of meningitis on December 19, 2022 at UHL after she was left for more than 13 hours without antibiotics - a 'vital' treatment to help save her life.

MINISTER for Health Stephen Donnelly has said that work " is now underway in the HSE to implement" recommendations outlined in the report into the death of teenager Aoife Johnston at the emergency department at University Hospital Limerick.

THE INDEPENDENT REPORT into the death of Aoife Johnston at University Hospital Limerick has found a series of failings in how the hospital handled her case. The 16-year-old died of sepsis after waiting on a chair for 12 hours in the emergency department in December 2022.
