MIAMI — After some patchy morning fog, Sunday will shape up to be a nice day. South Florida should expect a warm breeze out of the southwest, pushing high temperatures into the lower to mid-80s under a partly sunny sky.

Passing showers are expected early Thursday morning as a cold front moves through the area. Following this front, residents can look forward to a warmer weekend, with pleasant temperatures throughout Central Florida. Then, attention turns to potential rain, particularly on Sunday.

The U.S. Drought Monitor shows almost 61 percent of Florida is abnormally dry, while 29 percent of the state is under moderate drought.

A cold front moving through South Florida during the day Saturday will bring a quick moving line of showers through the area. Behind the front, cooler and drier air will fill back into the area by the afternoon and evening hours.

A cold front will sweep through Sunday night, bringing much cooler air to the region for MLK Day on Monday. We’ll see cloudy skies for the holiday, with highs only in the low 50s. Next week looks very active,
