The Atlanta Braves’ hopes of getting third baseman Austin Riley back in the near future have taken a step back. On Tuesday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Gabe Burns reported that Riley experienced renewed soreness in his abdomen during a workout and is not expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list anytime soon.

Atlanta Braves star third baseman Austin Riley has had another solid offensive season at the plate despite a lower abdominal strain that has led to two stints on the injured list.

Riley, who was placed on the 10-day injured list for the second time in two months on Aug. 4 with a strained lower abdominal muscle, is expected to return in time for spring training next year.
