Police in Branford foiled an attempted ATM theft in the early morning hours of Dec. 22.The attempted theft occurred at Evan's Mobil on North Main Street. Video from the scene shows a group of would-be thieves backing up to the front of the store and opening the rear hatch of their SUV.

HARTFORD, CT. (WWLP) – Police are stepping up patrols in the Hartford area after a string of ATM thefts. Police in East Hartford, Windsor Locks, and Manchester are investigating. They say thieves not only broke into the gas stations but in some cases tore the doors right off the hinges to split open the ATMs.
