A pilot is safe after ejecting from an F-35 fighter jet that crashed at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, officials said.

A U.S. Navy fighter jet crashed into the San Diego Harbor after two pilots ejected at around 10:15 a.m on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

The F-35s soaring costs, manufacturing delays and recent mishaps have led to a barrage of criticisms against the military's costliest weapons program.
