Federica Brignone edged out teammate Sofia Goggia by the smallest possible margin for an Italian 1-2 finish in a women's World Cup downhill, while Lindsey Vonn missed a gate near the bottom of the course and failed to finish.

Lindsey Vonn gave the crowd a scare when she crashed out on the third sector of the World Cup super-G race at Cortina but emerged unharmed.

Italian Federica Brignone won the women's downhill at Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Saturday, defeating her compatriot Sofia Goggia by one hundredth of a second to extend her overall World Cup lead as Lindsey Vonn again failed to finish.
