Elijah Caudill, 24, is accused of stabbing four people over the weekend, killing two of them. DENVER — Prosecutors on Friday formally charged the man who's accused of carrying out a series of attacks on the 16th Street Mall in Denver over the weekend.

City leaders say investments will bring people downtown, but a fatal stabbing spree adds to the challenges that remain.

Elijah Caudill, 24, was arrested on investigation of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to jail records.

Denver police are searching for a suspect accused of stabbing three people near the 16th Street Mall on Saturday night. One woman who was stabbed later died of her injuries, according to police.

Nicholas Burkett was the fourth person stabbed in what police believe was a random string of attacks along the mall on Saturday and Sunday.
