Corrections Officer Andrew Lansing died after an inmate assault at Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe, according to a prepared statement shared on social media by Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Director Annette Chambers-Smith.

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction said its Chillicothe facility was staffed to standards when one of its correction officers was fatally assaulted.

Rashawn Cannon was identified as the inmate who assaulted and killed Officer Andrew Lansing at the Ross Correctional Institution.
