A man is in the hospital after police say he pointed a gun at officers responding to reports of allegedly threatening behavior near White Rock Lake Tuesday afternoon. Dallas police received several calls reporting a man pointing a gun at passing cars in the 11000 block of Joaquin Drive,

Dallas police officers shot and critically wounded a man who waved a gun at drivers and pointed the weapon at officers on Tuesday afternoon, the department said. The shooting occurred about 3:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of Joaquin Drive in northeast Dallas, after police arrived to investigate reports of the man waving his gun at motorists.

The adult male, Luis Rivera, 40, was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries according to police. No other injuries were reported and investigators say there is no threat to the public.
