There was an element of celebrity involved in Sunday's record-breaking $12.9 million sale of a 2007-08 Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant Logoman card.

Matthew Allen, Kevin O’Leary and Paul Warshaw won the card through Heritage Auctions early Sunday morning with bidding that pushed past the previous most expensive card ever sold — the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 graded a “Mint-Plus” SGC 9.5 and dubbed the “finest known example” of that iconic card — by more than $300,000.

The Canadian venture capitalist, who has a reported net worth to be around $400 million, revealed that he was one of three buyers of the signed collectible featuring both NBA legends.
