One person has died and several people are missing after record rainfall brought flooding and landslides to coastal Japan, in the same region that was hit by a massive earthquake on New Year’s Day, local authorities said.

Floods and human tragedies do not occur solely in Central Europe. In the Japanese prefecture of Ishikawa, record rainfall has led to flooding and landslides, resulting in fatalities. The cities most severely affected are Wajima and Suzu,

The authorities asked the residents to take extreme precautions in what they’re calling the heaviest rainfall the region has ever witnessed
