An Israel-Hamas cease-fire and hostage deal is looking increasingly likely in the final days of the Biden administration.

The temporary ceasefire saw around 100 Israeli and other hostages freed by Hamas while 240 Palestinian detainees and prisoners were freed. Israel also, briefly, allowed more humanitarian aid into Gaza. When it broke down, both Israel and Hamas accused each other of wrecking the negotiations to extend it.

A deal could be announced as soon as Tuesday, Arab and Israeli officials said, raising hopes that some of the hostages held in Gaza will be released.
