A large-scale search for a missing Galway woman has entered its second day after her car was found at Silverstrand Beach. Multiple agencies and local volunteers are involved.

The woman in her 30s was reported missing on Tuesday after failing to return from a swim close to Silver Strand beach.

The search for a woman missing in Galway Bay is to resume again at first light this morning. The woman was reported missing two days ago. The search is concentrated on waters off Silverstrand. The body of the singer-songwriter Johnny Duhan was recovered from the same coastal area on Tuesday afternoon.

The body of the beloved singer/songwriter was recovered just before 2pm yesterday afternoon close to Rusheen Bay. Mr Duhan, who is originally from Limerick but lived in Barna in Galway for many years, was reported missing after he failed to return from a morning swim at Silverstrand beach, on the outskirts of Galway city.

The search for a woman missing in Galway since she went for a swim on Tuesday morning will resume again at first light on Thursday. More than 250 volunteers joined rescue teams in the search along the shoreline of Galway Bay on Wednesday while a variety of crafts searched the water throughout the day.
