The world’s best hotels have officially been named for this year and remarkably, two Australian outposts have made the list. Brisbane’s The Calile and Hobart’s The Tasman have both been recognised as part of the World’s 50 Best Awards’ annual hotel ranking,

Capella Bangkok, situated in the city centre and overlooking the Chao Phraya River, has been named the world’s best hotel in 2024 by The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, which comprises of 600 anonymous leaders in the hotel industry, each chosen for their expert opinion and background in the hotel scene, who vote on hotels they have experienced.

The Calile, a stylish and airy urban resort in the lively James Street area of Brisbane, Australia, was named Best Hotel in Oceania, ranking at No. 25. Last year it was the sole Aussie representative, but in 2024 it was joined by the Tasman in Hobart at No. 49.

A hotel in Bangkok tops the annual list, now in its second edition, leading the Thai capital to earn the lion’s share of this year’s awards.
