Bangladesh is ramping up payments to Adani Power after the Indian conglomerate reportedly cut electricity supplies by half because of an unpaid $800m bill. Two senior government officials told the BBC they are already processing partial payments to Adani, which supplies 10% of the electricity used by Bangladesh.

The company in a letter, dated October 27, said that if the bills are not paid, it shall be constrained to take remedial action under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) by suspending the power supply on October 31.

The company has given Bangladesh a deadline of November 7 for the fulfillment of the unpaid dues amounting to $846 million.

Adani has been pressing the interim government to pay the dues since they took charge after the ouster of then prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
