most of the beaches on Catawba Island our Pebble Beach is so small round stones an inch to 2 inches in diameter. That makes the water very clean but walking on the beach and sitting on the small stones is not necessarily comfortable. You would probably enjoy swimming there but she would need swim issues to be the most comfortable. We have other beaches in the area you might consider Bay Point which is surprisingly beautiful for our area, but that is a private beach unless you are renting with in the Bay Point community. Sandy beaches exist in the Gem Beach area, on South Bass and Kelley’s Islands and at East Harbor State Park on Marblehead.
I don't know. I did not see any signs about not doing it. We were only at one area considered the beach, which was just all rocks, so not sure it would be a good place.
