Deck stain over pre finished lumber - Woodworking Talk
WEBJul 16, 2023 · I’d like to use the cedar tone pre finished lumber from Menards for the picture frames and parts of the inlay. I’d like to stain the rest a lighter shade of stain and would like to just finish right over the darker boards to to avoid it being a pain to try and work around.

WEBFeb 7, 2017 · FAS needs to have 83 1/3% of clear cutting. Select is the same as FAS, but select has a minimum board width of 4", not 6" and is graded over 6', not 8'. Next would be #1 and #2 Common. #1 Common needs to be 66% clear and #2 common 50% clear. Not all wood is graded. Some smaller mills do not grade due to the cost of doing so.

WEBMay 12, 2011 · Take one of the railing pieces and place it on top of the 4 x 4 posts. Do the same with the mating rail but place it on top at the meeting point. Each piece of rail should be about 6" longer than necessary. Mark on each rail where the other rail crosses it. Use a router to cut a lap joint.

I have looked into hardwoods like Ipe and Tigerwood as well as the usual Cedar (at least that is typical for around these parts).

Probably will need to add a stringer in the middle to prevent bounce. Certainly looks like this has been addressed multiple time over the years. Thus, the sistered cleats on both sides.
Pantry shelves 16" depth - Woodworking Talk
WEBMay 17, 2022 · Very, very new to this. I'm looking to redo my pantry shelves (25.5"W x 16"D) from the standard white wire. Wanting to do something like the attached but with a lighter stain. Where can I find boards to fit the 16" depth? I'm thinking a standard pine, don't need anything fancy, as I'm sure I would not do a nice piece any justice.
