WEBJun 6, 2017 · Without rats, there are seldom snakes. Squirrels are in my back yard every day of the year, but not on my bird feeders. The reason is because I put 5 inch PVC pipe around the stands, from the ground to the bottom of the feeder. The squirrels cannot get a grip on this pipe. I took a photo, but am unable to upload it.

But the will bring in mice, and to follow the mice comes the snakes none of wich I want to have in my yard. I would stick with maybe a humming Bird feeder and attract the bee's and birds. WEBFeb 6, 2021 · I went to the Wild Bird Center at the Best Buy shopping center about 4 years ago and bought a bird feeder and a 16 pound bag of Safflower Seed. Why Safflower, squirrels and black birds don't like it. We've added 2 additional feeders since then, and have Cardinals, Thrashers, Mocking Birds, Finches and Doves constantly in our yard.

WEBSep 10, 2015 · Hope there are only two. In Ohio our house was surrounded by large trees. Hubby fed the birds but the squirrels would wreck the bird feeder and run off the birds. He tried everything including a live trap. One week he live trapped 17 squirrels and drove them 10 or more miles away and released them into a woods.

WEBJan 15, 2021 · Plastic owl mounting. The Wife and I have had squirrels climbing all over our bird cage and even chewing holes in it. I bought a plastic owl from Home Depot. It has a round hole with plug on the bottom to put sand inside to keep it in place. However, I hope to be able to mount it on top of my bird cage frame for maximum effect.
